TOPIC: Less rest or insomnia

Less rest or insomnia 2 Years ago

In past juice fasts, I have found I need less sleep; but with this water fast, I'm not quite sure what to think. For a couple of days, I've sleept excessively and then something switched I'm not dropping off until later and later.

I'll try going for a vigorous walk later today after getting some sleep.

I have noted divergent sleep responses during fasting: Some people suddenly "need" more and some "need just about none. Remember that fasting could signal to your instinct that there is famine, so the subconscious could endeavour to conserve energy by sleeping more. Or it could signal danger and the subconscious would keep you awake.

This is complicated further by your unique response to your unique toxins being mobilized during the fast. As you "delve" deeper and deeper into the fat cells, different "layers" of toxins are unearthed and moved into the blood for elimination. You likely respond differently to eacy "layer".

Acute stress (a lion chasing you) calls for physical arousal. Chronic stress (long term famine) calls for conserving resources and resting. During a fast you typically go through phases simulating these circumstances.

Go with the flow. That's Nature's way.
