      About us

We are a very small, but happy group of people who are dedicated to fasting and also to discussing the benefits of fasting and related subjects.

We host frequent meetings on fasting, where we discuss all aspects of fasting and we also offer our warm support to anyone who is carrying out a fast.

David Feuerstein, Robert Cox and Geoff Garfield, Kunkyung Sok the founding members of the London Fasting Meeting and Fasting Connection, are eager to meet new members who share the same interests.

This is a not-for-profit web site which is set up for the benefit of those who are interested in fasting and related topics.

The original idea for this site arose from several weeks of recreational and very enjoyable philosophical debates on "What is truly the best way to live one's life in harmony with oneself and the rest of Creation." These discussions and debates took place in a sun- drenched garden under an apple and pear tree during the Spring of 2004 and were truly nourishing and thought-provoking.

New realisations came in spontaneous lateral bursts rather than a series of logical linear conclusions. These debates and discussions on the right way to live one's life did reach a climax on an early summer's day in the form of, what was for us, a very new concept.

This concept, namely moderation in all things, was by no means ground-breaking, as moderation or the doctrine of the "middle way", has been an age-old principle in the spiritual traditions. However, we were just having genuine fun exploring all these possibilities. Our next task, was to work out how best to apply moderation to our every day lives.

Several brainstorming sessions later, we arrived at the conclusion that fasting would be the best corollary to cultivate the "right" attitudes and feelings which underpin and help sustain a moderate life style.

From our experience, it is the excesses and material indulgences that we often get caught up in which most often lead to a state of ill health and disharmony, both mental and physical.

Although we ourselves, are fairly new to the discipline of fasting (and have still got a very long way to go) we have observed (on ourselves) that regular fasting can help regulate undesired behavioural patterns, and although it might not eliminate them altogether, the discipline of fasting will certainly assist in smoothing out these abrasive peaks and troughs and lead to a more harmonious life-style.

Although fasting was not entirely new territory for us, as we have come from various alternative health backgrounds, the effect of engaging in these recurring pleasurable debates helped seal our belief in the all-round effectiveness of fasting as a tool for healing and personal growth. We subsequently put our new ideas into practice by carrying out a series of 3 day water fasts and much longer juice fasts.

We were astonished to discover that the experience of each new fast was totally unique and quite different from the other fasts we had experienced. And we continue to experience the benefits of fasting to heal ourselves from a variety of minor health issues which occasionally time in. Over the past 24 months these have included: chronic knee pain, skin conditions, stress, high blood pressure, excess fat, lack of energy, depression, ear infection and digestive problems.

The Fasting Connection website was set up to assist with our studies and experimentations and also as a platform to network with like minded people.
