      Attempting fast - 10/11/2006 13:57
Well - I figure if I write about my experiences, I am more apt to stick to a program. I've been attempting this fast for weeks now - with no luck. I get so distressed - then I could care less about fasting. I just want to eat!! This is part of my problem, however. I have serious food addictions. This is my main interest in fasting. In the summer, I did a 7 day fast (the Neera Super Cleanse). I felt better than I had in YEARS! With the Fall, schedule changes and just plain life have left me distressed beyond belief. I'm looking to bring some balance back - and FORCE myself to deal with my "issues". Easier said than done!!!!

I have been eating a restricted diet, and am anxious to start a solid fast. I am hoping to start tomorrow, November 11. I intend to juice. Day one I am planning to have water only. Days 2 and beyond are juice. Any helpful tips or support are welcome!

Be kind to yourself! Others are pleased in you!

Noble intentions Regina. Do bear in mind that "juice fast" is no different from "fruitarian diet" as there's no difference between fruit and juice once in your stomach. Some of my patients find that the taste of juice is what makes them stumble and start eating again, some find it supportive. You'll have to play it by ear.

If it is really too difficult, do consider attending a fasting facility such as John Fielder's or another where there's adequate support, as well as adequate activities to keep your mind occupied positively.

But remember: "failure" is just human. There's nothering wrong with trying again. Sometimes I even prescribe appetite suppressant drugs for short periods under supervision to help people "break through" and establish a fasting pattern; the long term benefits outweighs the short term side effects of the medicine.
