      My Journey and transformation - 28/04/2008 18:11

Today I had decided to fast and again ended up cheating and overeating..I couldn't control my cravings. I have decided to try again tomorrow. I plan to alternate..with water, juice and fresh fruits and steamed veggies. I want to do this for 30 days. I am a vegetarian so eating fruits and veggies are not the problems..but staying away from pastries and junk. My main reason in spritual, I want to feel the presence of the divine within. I meditate and plan to do so more often..

this is how I plan to start my journey and self transformation.

I would appreciate support and kind words.

      thanks

Two thoughts that might be useful:

      1. I totally disagree with the old proverb "you are what you eat". It should read:

      "You BECOME what you eat"..

after all, your entire body is replaced (atom for atom) about every 2 years. In effect, we are bundles of information moving through time, manifesting in matter that is transformed by the information. Sounds philosophical, I know, but that's the truth. You burn up old tissues and replace them with new ones made from what you eat.

Therefore, whenever you contemplate biting into somthing, LOOK at it, SMELL it, FEEL its texture, then ask yourself:

"Is this what I wish to become?"

      2. You can eat every meal only once.

Each of us will eat only a certain volume of food in our lifetimes. How OLD we are (physiologically) is determined to some extent by how much of our "allowance" we have consumed to date.

Thus, before biting into something, remind yourself: "This is coming off my lifetime allowance".. Do I wish to consume it NOW, or leave it for LATER?

And of course there could be a third viewpoint:

      3. Food is given "life" by Chlorophyll.. that is the only thing that can turn (dead) carbon dioxide into (living) carbohydrates, the start of all life. Whenever you consider eating something, ask yourself: "Am I the first to eat this, or has it been eaten before?"

For example: A hamburger patty was Plankton, eaten by Krill, eaten by Shrimp, eaten by Little fish, eaten by Big fish, turned into Fishmeal, eaten by Chickens, whose droppings and residue was eaten by Cattle, which was "eaten" by Machines, etc. etc., before you get your turn.. life was leached out and you effectively eat about a ton of plankton off your "lifetime allowance" by munching one hamburger..

      ~Think.
