"You are here for a time... you are here for a purpose. You are here to learn and to grow... and to offer the gifts that only you can bring.

You are beautiful... whether or not this is visible to others in your current state. You are pure love. At the center of your core is an unapproachably brilliant light. You know these things are true from a place just beyond your mind.

If these words have found their way into your heart, perhaps it is time to ask how to begin shedding the insulating layers that have been placed for protection from the pains of earthly existence so that the true you can begin to shine once again.

This requires no anxiety on your part... it only requires simple obedience to the promptings that have existed in your heart for all eternity.

Your teachers are everywhere. Your body will guide you. Pain will instruct you. The unkind will shed light on your path. As each step is taken more light is revealed. Your heart knows the way home.

There is no rush, but also there is no time to waste. It is time to begin."
      Peace to you

      Editor's note:

For all you great folks who are drawn to the fasting experience, allow me to share some insights with you before you journey through this site.

Over the months of being involved with Fasting Connection and various Group Fast gatherings, I have come to realize that only very few people who set out to do a fast actually see it through to the very end, and yes that includes myself . So for example if I planned on doing a 10 day water fast, I might end it on day 2 or day 3 or perhaps not even start it at all! I am indeed perplexed as to why there is often such a gap between the fast at the 'ideal' planning stage and the actual realization of the fast. It is as if the conscious rational mind and the unconscious irrational mind are anything but partners in the deal. Does one then have to resort to advanced psychotherapy or hypnosis to get both parties to sit down and agree or is there another solution?

I believe there are several solutions to ensure a greater degree of success with one's fasting aspirations which are as follows:

      1. Visit a fasting retreat. We have a list of 140+ retreats listed on the site and there must be at least one which can cater for your needs. Don't forget to use the search filter to save you time. Yes it costs money, but at least in the optimum supportive environment you stand a much greater chance to achieve your objectives.

      2. Come out of the woodwork and join one of our (free) regular Group Fast sessions where you can connect up with others who are in the same boat as you. You will be able to get the friendly support you need to see a fast through to its conclusion or at least you may stand a better chance than attempting it on your own or with people around you who simply can't relate to what you are attempting to achieve.

      3. Last but not least, allow me to direct you to a brilliant article entitled: Self-mastery through Attentive Eating which in my view is one of the best methods to bridge this mind and heart/body gap (mentioned above). Attentive Eating re-educates the system to be more grounded and (with practice) better equipped to managing the fast. It is not surprising that Dr Stanley Bass wrote this article after 50 years of research and that hugely successful Paul McKenna (after 20 years of working with obese people) wrote a book on the same principle entitled I Can Make You Slim for people who wish to lose weight.

The final point is that I do not believe that fasting is the correct practice for people wishing to lose weight as their primary objective. However I really do think that Attentive Eating is the best possible solution.

Fasting Connection is a place for people from all walks of life who share a broad range of health interests.

This site aims to highlight the incredible power of (water & juice) fasting as a regenerative force that can dynamically assist the body to restore its health and balance from all manner of ailments linked to poor diet and lifestyle.

The good news is that through the practice of correct and regular fasting, you most certainly can turn over a new leaf!

People are attracted to fasting as a discipline for many different reasons, and it is our aim to make the multi-facets of this health practice accessible to you with a variety of carefully selected articles; a Book Gallery; a database of Fasting Retreats; a Forum and Site Members who you can easily 'connect' with.

And very soon, we will have a Group Fast module in place where all interested members can gather to experience fasting together to share their experience and offer one another friendship and support. This is especially beneficial for those of you who are feeling isolated and are not easily able to go on a supervised fast at one of the many wonderful fasting retreats dotted around the globe.

We would also like to stress, that water fasting is not in any shape or form a diet. The benefits of fasting far outweigh even the most fanciful diets, as it allows for a complete physiological rest of our bodies (and minds) which are usually stressed, fatigued and confused by years of overeating in both quantity, and nutrient deficient food.

But beware! Like most good things, there is an art to fasting and to discover the correct way to fast, usually requires some study, a little patience and lots of self-discipline !
