Frequent Fasts PDF Print E-mail

People who are interested in maintaining a steady level of optimum health may wish to carry out frequent three day water fasts. So long as the fast is prepared and ended in the correct manner, one can expect to achieve optimum health in a very short time with veriy little disruption to one's daily routines. According to Dr Keki Sidhwa , there is little point in carrying out fasts which are less than three days in duration simply becuase the body doesn't really get time to carry out any essential cleansing and repair work. It is believed that a one-day-a-week fast for example will simply confuse and tease the system. The primary advantages of doing regular short fasts are threefold:

The more fasting practice one gets, the easier it becomes to fast at will and to see it through to the end.

The more one becomes skillful at fasting the easier it becomes to incorporate in to one's daily life.

Short fasts can be carried out at home whereas the longer fasts are best carried out at a fasting retreat . However it is still advisable that one rest during the fast while the body repairs itself and rids itself of toxins. Avoid any extremes such as intensive work, hot or cold baths noisy environments and driving.
