If you are interested in Fasting, Nature Cure, Natural Hygiene and healthy-living then you have come to the right place. If you are a beginner at fasting and would like an introduction then please read this article: 'How to conduct a short fast at home' by Dr Keki Sidhwa' & 'The benefits of fasting' by Dr Gina Shaw. There is also a plethora of information on the site forum

Editor's note:

For all of you who are drawn to the fasting experience, allow me to share some insights with you before you journey through this site.

Over the months of involvement with Fasting Connection and various Group Fast gatherings, I have come to realize that very few people who set out to do a fast actually see it through to the very end. Yes, that includes myself. For example, if I plan on doing a 10 day water fast, I might end it on day 2, day 3, or perhaps not even start it at all! I am indeed perplexed as to why there is often such a gap between the fast at the 'ideal' plan stage and the actual realization of the fast. It is as if the conscious rational mind and the unconscious irrational mind are anything but partners in the deal. Is it necessary to resort to advanced psychotherapy or hypnosis to get both parties to sit down and agree, or is there another solution?

I believe there are several solutions to ensure greater success with fasting aspirations which are:

Visit a fasting retreat. We have a list of 140+ retreats listed on the site. There must be at least one which can cater to your needs. Don't forget to use the search filter to save time. Yes, retreats cost money. However, an optimum supportive environment gives you a much greater chance to achieve your objectives.

Come out of the woodwork and join one of our (free) regular Group Fastsessions where you can connect with others who are in the same boat as you. You will be able to get the friendly support you need to see a fast through to completion. You may stand a better chance than you would with attempts to do it on your own, surrounded by people who simply can't relate to what you hope to achieve.

Allow me to direct you to a brilliant article entitled: Self-mastery through Attentive Eating. I find it is one of the best methods to bridge the mind/heart/body gap I’ve mentioned above. The practice of Attentive Eating reeducates the system to be more grounded and better equipped to manage a fast. It is no surprise that Dr. Stanley Bass wrote this article after 50 years of research. In addition, after 20 years of working with obese people, Paul McKenna wrote a widely successful book on the same principle entitled: I Can Make You Slim, intended to help people lose weight.

One final note, I do not advocate fasting as the correct practice for people who wish to lose weight as a primary objective. I see Attentive Eating as the best possible solution.
