I can dream about a 30 day water fast, but let me go for 14 first.

Doubt is in my mind, why am I doing this. For selfish reasons, for God, for cleansing, for stupidity.

My stomach talked to me alot last night. I can just run over to McDonalds for a McChicken and it will all be better..

But this fast is 10 years overdo, in my 30s I could fast anytime, now at 47 just to finally get it going...I WANT CONTROL OF MYSELF....

Looking for chat or conversation..Rick:

Good luck 14 days is a long time for a first fast, what type of fast are you doing water/dry/juice?

You already completed the first 3 days so your doing well. You should feel less hungry now.

Thanks Cory, I use to fast in my 30s, but now I am 47, and I have done some small fasts from time to time. And I have done some jucie fasts, but it just seems that when I juice fasted in the past it opened doors to snacking...so the longest water fast I ever did was in the middle of a protein shake fast, and it lasted for 3-4 days...but that was 10 years ago..

Hi Bolio!!

I think you have yet the best reason to do it; to recover control about yourself...I think that is my best reason too, I don´t want my life to be run for something so insignificant as toxic foods that only damage the delicate and beautiful tissues of the body and wiring of the brain...

I know we can do better!!!; and real life is only about to begin...

And if you could do it in the past, you can do it now: and even if you couldn´t do it in the past, that´s no reason you can´t do it now...

Good luck and tell us about your progress!:)

Indeed dear Bolio, as you see there's a lot of support around here. Don't be daunted by the thought of a long fast.. if you do a long seris of short fasts (say 7 days at a time) with short breaks in between, you could achieve very much the same but likely more safely so, particularly if you do not have ready access to experienced supervision and investigation of symptoms.

Thank you Cory and Ladytwentysevennights for your support. Let's all help our new friend succeed!

Hello Bolio joining the weekly group fast is probably a good solution for you if you have a real urge to improve your health. ATEOTD it all boils down to how badly one wants to bring about changes as fasting does require a strong resolve and plenty of discipline. 1-2 day weekly fasts are quite a good middle path as you avoid the pitfalls of telling yourself you will be stopping food for long periods which often have psychological consequences and you are free to eat for the remainder of the week. What we hope (and it is early days yet as the first IF Group is only 6 weeks old) is that by regular fasting one will gradually start to reassess and moderate one's weekly food intake not just in quantity but in quality too. If you join the second IF Group you will be able to experiment with this too. I forgot to mention that another advantage of weekly fasts is that ketosis kicks in quickly. For myself I have found that if I eat fatty food after my two days fasting (Monday and Tuesday) the body tends to build body fat very quickly and there is water retention too which seems to increase. So all told in a single week, I do not lose much weight, but am exploring ways to enhance the eating days to discourage the body from building up reserves too quickly. One way would be to extend the fast to three days. But this seems like quite a long period to do each week. So raw food or simply less cheese etc is another option for the eating days. The upside though is that I absolutely love the two days and three nights without food and really would not give it up for all the tea in China.

Hello Bolio,

I think that you can do whatever you set your mind to do the body will follow... each day presents us with obstacles and it is a mindful choice to decide what to do with those obstacles.in my opinion that is. I am on day 9 of my water fast. I work full time and have a busy homelife so it is on some days easier than others. today is tough.. I am enduring some indigestion today because my stomach has been talking to me but I feel it is due to beind around so much food as well today and I have not had time to detoxify with my 5 stpe detox cycle for today. but will before bed.
Clarity is becoming a everyday sensation and it is exhilerating. so stick with it you can do this we are here and we are listening.
When i feel real tempted to cave I go for a walk or a nap or just remove myself from the situation that is tempting me.

Smiles.

Thanks Rihn, the site is already helping I feel motivated made it to day 5....Some headaches last night, cooked food for the kids, thats very hard, but its got to be done...Thanks for the advice...I would like to make fasting a part of my life forever...but I seem do good in the beginning cleansing fast, but then trying to fast the 2-3 days a week to maintain are a challenge...Food for solace just sneaks its way back into my life...

David my challnges have always been maintaining the weekly fast that is so necessary. I use to do it Mondays, but just thinking about starting the work week plus fasting was depressing. So then I would fast on the weekends, that worked a little bit, but difficult to maintain though, so this is a life change I need to make forever...Day 5 water right now, doing ok...

Bolio1981 that is really an achievement! Yes I thought long and hard about which days should be the weekly fast 'hub' days and it seemed to me that weekends would be quite difficult because that is the time when we tend to unwind, and invite guests or share meals etc etc. But the way it works now the weekly group fast starts on Saturday so one could envisage doing a Sunday & Monday in order to include a 'hub' day. As for longer water fasts, I think they work well providing transitioning is done correctly and over a long enough period otherwise in many cases the body just puts on the pounds again very quickly. Its a kind of starvation reflex. However other ways to manage this are skipping, long walks, swimming, and eating much more raw food. Ot completely cutting down on animal products. HOpe I don't sound like I'm lecturing :)
