Sinus infection?

I'm wondering what affect water fasting will have on a sinus infection. I wasn't doctor diagnosed or anything but my husband and I are having the same symptoms (the same side of our face (left side) is swollen and we can't breathe out of our left nostril. We both have constant headaches, our throats are sore and my nose feels like it's draining the wrong way out.

I'm wondering if a water fast can cure or treat this self-diagnosed sinus infection. I'm pretty sure that it can, but I'm wondering how long it'll take. Now I know I'm not starting off this fast the best way (since I just ate 3 packs of fruit snacks before starting the fast 2 hours ago, but I'm looking forward to the benefits of this one ... grudgingly; for those that are all too familiar with with the joy of starting a water fast for the benefits of it and the dread of starting one due to the withdraws)

I don't know if fasting can cure a sinus infection in the sense that you'll never have another one, but I do know in my case that fasting cured the one I had at the time. I've had a couple of them over the years, and I used to take medication for them. Then, I decided not to use medication (knowing that the more you use it, the less effective it will be). I fasted the last time I had one and it went away. :)

I know right! I was so excited when I woke up out of my sleep and was like, "Wow, I can breathe?!?!" I was so happy. I actually only successfully fasting until dinner time but wil resume tomorrow. Im just so excited about the fact that I am already feeling MUCH better. My husband reall thought that I should see a doctor and Im going to be excited when when my sinus situation is completely cleared up and I can say "LOOK BABY, IM OK!!!" (of course he's going to claim that it was just a cold that I got over with time, lol, jk).

A true sinus infection in two people at the same time? Probably not likely but seasonal allergies with two people at the same time? A lot more likely. Fasting will effect both however. During fasting, the level of Insulin Like Growth Factor 1 or IGF-1 falls. This puts the body into sort of repair mode. As the many competing allergens from food leave our bodies, and fresh water intake helps to wash out residues, the body production of mucous falls and you may very well see a rapid improvement in the symptoms you are having.

You are SO right, Lux! People tend to call just about any malfunction an "infection" whereas it is much more likely to be physiological (or pathophysiological) reactions. Most studies on conditions such as sinusitis have failed to demonstrate a benefit in antibiotic treatment. Fasting, steaming and then a plant based diet has a much better chance of long term resolution.
