can I intermix juice and water fasting?

I have been juicing for 18 days now, and I was wondering if it is OK to do 1-2 days of water fasting per week (build up to more days)as I progress. My goal is 40 days or more. I still work, part-time and I know one cannot work with water fasting.

Thank you!

Please bear in mind that the only difference between "juicing" and a fruitarian or vegetarian diet is that the chewing is done outside the body. The stomach receives exactly the same substances, whether it was your teeth or a machine that broke it into small pieces.

As a general rule, I prefer to have a FATty meal upon entering a fast, so as to guide the metabolism into breaking down fat during the fast. Carbohydrates and protein shares a metabolism so if you had a diet rich in carbohydrate (such as juice) there's always the risk that a subsequent fast might "decide" to use muscle (protein) instead of fat for sustenance.

But people are different, and you can check if your body is "on fat" by measuring for ketones in the urine. If it is indeed breaking down fat, it is likely safe to go onto a day or more of fasting even if you are on a (juice) diet.

Personally I prefer to be sure, and thus have a fatty/oily meal once a week before my 30-60 hour weekly fast.
