Thanks

We've debated this issue on a few instances, please check the other forums. But if you feel there's a need for a specific forum, we can collect the collective wisdom in one place for sure.

Interesting vantage point for this topic is that the human is the only organism on earth that appears to have a preoccupation with the lower end of the digestive tract. Some people actually want to instill substances into the gut from that side, claiming the term \"cleanse\" for this very unnatural and un-aesthetic practice.

Remember that the colon is a POLARIZED organ, like a one way street. If you force anything \"upstream\" into it, you disrupt a very delicate sequence of events. The colon cleanses itself, particularly when allowed to function naturally, given adequate roughage (fiber) and regular periods of resting (fasting).

I think it also comes down to the \"you can't clean your body by putting more stuff into it\" idea, whether it goes in your mouth as pills or liquid concoctions, or in the form of an enema.

The Hygienist opinion is that the only way to cleanse and in turn, to heal, is to let the body do what it was designed to do. This cleansing is triggered by fasting with water only, as thirst dictates.

A lot can go wrong with enemas, it's a tender area back there and you can't really see what you are doing.

I like fasting because it's simple. As long as I do nothing, I can't mess it up. :)

Beautiful formulation, Ungrateful.. real wisdom in there. I do agree that in the very rare event where an enema (Almost wrote \"enemy\"!) could be indicated, this should be performed by a medically trained person with good professional ethics, supervision and the correct (preferably disposable) equipment.

But honestly, by the time it is necessary to stick something into the rectum, you should be in hospital because it is really only necessary in very serious medical conditions, or in preparation for an investigation.

Aw, shucks.

I wouldn't drink a bunch of water and then throw up so why would I do the same thing from the other end?

If you want to have a bowel movement, eat more fiber in the form of leafy green veges. Or eat three kiwis. That usually makes me go in a couple of hours, lol.
