After doing lots of intermittent fasting in the last 3 months and having stopped my Ramadan Fast experiment after only 3 days, I decided to start a new experiment that has nothing to do with disciplining the body and forcing/teaching it to go without food and water, but on the contrary I want to honor my body and it's natural instincts by feeding it when it is truly hungry and feeding it monomeals of raw unprocessed foods, one at a time, the way they are provided by Nature.

Surely, I will still need a lot of discipline, but I will only need to apply it to my mind.

This is not to deny the benefits of fasting. I think there are cases (and mine might be one of them) when fasting is necessary to heal an illness. However I do not believe in fasting as a method for fixing our eating habits or for losing weight. In my case, right now, I am simply tired of forcing my body not to eat when it is hungry and than going into 'preventive' eating when food is 'allowed'.

So, let the experiment begin.

My first meal was a large ripe honeydew and I was really hungry.

Yuliya, I think that eating monomeals of raw foods until satifaction and instinctively when hungry is what our bodies really need. It most definatly stands to reason that it maybe indeed what we were created to do. I believe that I am going to incorporate more monofood meals/days in my diet once completing my fast. Feeding my body when it is hungry, not when it is time to eat. I believe that this approach will cause one to become more intuned to the body and it's needs, reaching a more peaceful exsistance with ourselves.
Best wishes on your journey, I look forward to hearing more.

Thank you, Tiffany.
Experimenting with eating mono and only when hungry is something I wanted to do for a long time.
However, today I am feeling really good without food or water, so I might just jump on Ramadan Fast wagon again.
I know - I am becoming kind of sporadic, but it would be make me feel good if I completed what I began before starting something new.

I definitely agree that eating mono meals according to hunger is the way we are naturally meant to eat.

I do however differ with you in your opinion that fasting is not helpful for weight loss. There are simply too many excellent examples of individual who have used fasting to lose weight and change their lifestyle to maintain that weight loss for it to be discarded so lightly. TrueNorth Health has many people who have achieve significant and permanent weight loss by going through their fasting and dietary program. Fasting can be a powerful motivating force in getting someone to change their life and diet for the better.

Other than this, everything else you have said seems quite reasonable to me.

I have to agree with you, Esmee.
It seems that for some people fasting is a powerful tool for losing and maintaining weight.
