I completed a ten days fast a few days ago, I broke my fast with a light evening meal, next day didn't eat until the evening again, although I did drink coffee and fruit juices.
Now I am feeling quite comfortable doing this (just eating in the evening)is there a problem with me carrying on this way?

Stu,

Speaking for myself, I would say no. I consumed food once-per-day (one meal in the evening) for two years before I began fasting properly. I lost 112 lbs. in the process. The Fast Doctor may have more information on whether or not it could become a problem, however.

Areas of specialty and interests: Canon and Fugue; Greek and Latin language and literature; Marathoning and Ultramarathoning; Martial Arts (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Shotokan {Kissaki-Kai} Karate); Medieval and Renaissance music notation; Television series (All In the Family; Charmed, Dark Shadows, Lost, The Outer Limits, Roswell, Star Trek); Theology; Twelfth- and thirteenth-century conductus,...

"1/4 of what you eat keeps you alive. 3/4 of what you eat keeps your doctor alive". Old Chinese saying.
I think eating three times a day (cooked food) and then snacks is asking for trouble. No time for our body to do any cleansing all the energy is tied up on digestion.

Happy Fasting!
Mrs. L

Preaching aside, Jesus’ words and offer of the “Abundant Life” are well over 2,000 years old. Yet even in today’s fast-moving society, His Word is relevant to the 21st century as He offers us wisdom, which has the power to transform our lives.

I'd like to add one thing, that is in response to Mrs. L's comment, about keeping doctors in business.

My mom is suffering with heart problems. She's a bit of a hypochondriact, and won't listen to a word I say about diet and exercise. She doesn't have a good diet, and she lays in bed most of the time. Never exercises, works minimally, and really does nothing. Her heart rate is low and they put a pace maker in her. I asked her if the doctor recommended she exercise to get her heart rate up. She wouldn't hear it. She believes medicine, and maybe even surgery, are what she needs.

I cannot believe, with all the doctors and medical tests and things she is going through, that no one recommended diet or exercise, to fix her problems.

I don't say anything anymore. It's no use. I just believe the medical community, besides wise ones like Dr. Andre and others I have encountered, just look for band-aids or quick fixes, ignoring the root of the problem. To me, if you don't eat healthy and don't exercise, you will have a low heart rate, and will develop complications. D'uh!

Thanks for listening and Mrs. L, thanks for saying what is so true about the medical world. There is so much money in medicine and health treatments, yet so little conversation about fasting and the power of the body to heal itself!

Accept yourself as you are. Otherwise you will never see opportunity. You will not feel free to move toward it; you will feel you are not deserving.
